Trump Administration calls for courts to take away health insurance from millions

According to this letter, addressed to the Clerk of the Court of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the Trump Administration’s Justice Department is calling for the Fifth Circuit to uphold a controversial federal district court ruling in Texas that, if upheld by higher federal courts, would strike down the entire Affordable Care Act (ACA):

The Justice Department’s position would result in millions of Americans losing health care coverage.

To put it in the most blunt terms that I can, the Trump Administration’s position would result in millions of Americans completely losing health care coverage. Many provisions of the ACA have helped Americans receive health care coverage, including, but not limited to, the provision that prohibits health insurers from being able to deny coverage based on pre-existing medical conditions, the health insurance exchanges that have been set up in accordance with the ACA, and federally-funded expansion of Medicaid programs. If the ACA is invalidated by judicial fiat, that would result in Americans who have received health insurance coverage because of one or more provisions in the ACA losing health insurance coverage.

The Trump Administration, through the Justice Department, is making it perfectly clear that they support taking away health insurance from millions of people by judicial fiat, as disgusting and repulsive of a position as that is.
